Blue Lichen
Lichen has become for me as fascinating as seaweed. When I’m far from the sea I look for lichen on fallen branches or on tree trunks. I’ve collected and documented lichen in the UK and in Norway. This project includes photography, ink drawings, textile pieces and paintings. I have been fascinated by Anna Atkins cyanotype images of seaweed so Blue Lichen is an exploration in reverse, not white on blue but blue on white in conversation with her beautiful organic shapes. My images have been made during a period of lockdown- the walls gradually filling as the news continues.
